IED stands for Intro to Engineering Design. During this class, students would learn the general principles and duties of an engineer along with learning about the whole design process. This design process would include learning a program called AutoDesk Inventor. Inventor is a 3D modeling software and allows for students to create objects of all shapes and sizes to scale and simulate them completing functions such as a gear turning. Students would use the program to model a Puzzle cube they would physically construct. Then, after learning the basics of AutoDesk Inventor, students would test their knowledge by modeling a 8 inch long, 5 inch wide, train car with the criteria of it has to be able to attach to other train cars when completed.
